My Story
In 2009, as the Great Recession was winding down, I found myself among several managers released from our employer. I saw it as an opportunity, thinking, "Great, I’ll surf every day and try my luck at playing poker each night." While this leisurely lifestyle was enjoyable, my ADD led me to seek out new hobbies. I acquired a faceting machi
In 2009, as the Great Recession was winding down, I found myself among several managers released from our employer. I saw it as an opportunity, thinking, "Great, I’ll surf every day and try my luck at playing poker each night." While this leisurely lifestyle was enjoyable, my ADD led me to seek out new hobbies. I acquired a faceting machine to cut gemstones and a lathe for woodworking. I also started experimenting with epoxy resins. With a passion for digital design, I started with a simple one-color press to apply my Aloha-inspired designs on t-shirts and hoodies that I could proudly wear. This caught the attention of others, leading to opportunities for printwork with local businesses, starting with a coffee shop, then expanding to tour boats and a convenience store chain, all while maintaining my beach bum lifestyle. However, my greatest joy came from seeing my Polynesian tribal designs worn on the streets. A few years ago, I started offering these original Maui tees to the locals and visitors of Maui exclusively. Now, I’m excited to provide access to anyone with a mouse and a keyboard.
